If Abela wins with a substantial majority he should really be humbled. And he should consider facing the real challenges of this country, not the proposals that were construed to win him a massive majority
Voters are doing their sums to see who is “giving” them the most, and the politicians keep promising more free hand outs to keep voters happy. Apart from the mercenary aspect of the whole thing, is anyone actually asking where all this cash is going to come from or whether it is even sustainable?

Following the publication of his Whatsapp chats with business tycoon Yorgen Fenech – now a prime suspect in Daphne Caruana Galizia’s murder – Edward Zammit Lewis position as Justice Minister has become somewhat untenable.
It is debatable, however, whether this is because of the Labour MP’s proximity to the disgraced Fenech; or whether it was the demeaning tone of his comment – which referred to the typical Labour voter as ‘Gahan’: the village idiot of Maltese folklore – that may have crossed the line.
