Pendle s first ever bike swap has seen families handing over old bikes that children had grown out of and taking bigger ones that they could ride. Children attended the Steven Burke Sports Hub in Barrowford last week to take part in the event organised by Go Velo – a team of qualified cycling instructors, coaches, ride leaders and mechanics based in Lancashire. The aim was to support parents in obtaining replacement bicycles which are a correct fit for their child, whilst also reducing waste. Kirsty Williamson donated her daughters’ old bike and said “My daughter had long grown out of it and I’m genuinely happy that someone else can enjoy it, it’s a cool bike! Thanks for arranging the swap, we need more events like this to help others and reduce waste!”
