To help Indonesia consolidate its democratic transition and welcomeit as a security partner, the United States should assist theprofessionalization of Indonesia's military and law enforcementagencies, eventually drop remaining sanctions on the military, andsupport the government's war against terrorism by adding the FreeAceh Movement (GAM) to the U.S. Department of State's ForeignTerrorist Organization list.
