Fairweather Park Newton Mearns EAST Renfrewshire town centres have received a £1.3 million boost to make a variety of improvements. Towns and villages across the local authority are just some of the projects being supported by the Scottish Government’s Town Centre Fund. The aim is to bring more diversity and variety to areas such as Newton Mearns, Eaglesham and Barrhead. East Renfrewshire Council bosses hope that the boost will help encourage residents to support local business as they recover from Covid-19. Some of the projects being supported by the fund include moves to improve access between the Avenue Shopping Centre and Fairweather Park in Newton Mearns. The carpark and entrance to the park have also been upgraded and outdoor gym equipment has been installed. The area is also set for street lighting upgrades as part of the fund.
