Main Street Annual Meeting includes Downtown awards and new Board members for 2022

Main Street Murfreesboro held its annual meeting on February 15 at The Walnut House downtown.  Due to covid precautions the meeting only included board and committee members of Main Street and award recipients. At the meeting, Main Street’s 2022 board members were elected.  Voted in as the 2022 Board Chair was Kirk Garrett, Murfreesboro City President, Volunteer State Bank.  Other Executive Board members approved for 2022 were Vice-Chair, Ashley McDonald and Treasurer, Patri .

Main Street’s 2021 board members were elected at Tuesday s (2/23/2021) meeting. The new Chair is Gateway Title Services Attorney Kasey Tab Talbott, the Vice Chair is Kirk Garrett, who is the Murfreesboro city president of Volunteer State Bank. In addition, three new board members were elected: Jonathan Harmon, Tianna Christiansen, and Ken Halliburton.

Excellence in Education Becomes an Outdoor Experience for Murfreesboro City Schools Foundation Feb 10, 2021 at 08:24 am by scott (Murfreesboro, TN) The 14th Annual Excellence in Education will become An Outdoor Experience on Friday, May 1st at 6 p.m. The outdoor event will be held at Cannonsburgh Village in Murfreesboro.  Excellence in Education is traditionally held in January as a black-tie event, however, the event was postponed due to the pandemic until May 1st. Excellence in Education is the largest fundraiser for The City Schools Foundation.  Since March 2020, The City Schools Foundation has been a vital part of Murfreesboro City Schools’ COVID response. The Foundation funded, through the help of many community sponsors, summer and weekend food supplies as well as donated $50,000 for Chromebooks for students.

Over $38,000 distributed to Murfreesboro City School teachers Dec 17, 2020 at 12:12 pm by WGNS (Murfreesboro, TN) The City Schools Foundation will distribute over $38,000 in grants to Murfreesboro City School teachers in 2020.  The Foundation asks educators to submit proposals for funding that will help acquire resources for classrooms not ordinarily provided by taxpayer dollars.    “Reading and scoring the grants is one of the most rewarding jobs as a foundation board member,” says David Scott, grant committee chair. “It is remarkable to see how educators are utilizing these grant dollars to enrich the classroom.”  Grants are submitted anonymously and are judged solely on their merit by a committee.
