BUFFALO — The National Weather Service in Buffalo says wind gusts of up to 50 mph are expected for most of Thursday, into Friday morning, for counties including Genesee, Orleans
OLEAN â While the Olean area wonât experience the snowstorm that is expected to plague the East Coast Wednesday, our region will see the cold temperatures and some snow from the incoming system.
âSome of that snow on the fringes of that system will hit the Olean area,â said Kirk Apffel, meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Buffalo. âRight now, the heaviest will be to the east.â
Because of the direction of the norâeaster, coming in from the south, the typically heaviest-hit areas of Cattaraugus County will not experience greater snow accumulation like they do from lake-effect snow.
