Saudi Arabia s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan has arrived in Tehran on Saturday, marking his first visit to the country since a seven-year break in diplomatic ties. During his visit, he is expected to hold meetings with the Iranian Foreign Minister and President in addition to conducting a news conference. Saudi Arabia broke off relations with Iran in 2016 over the attack on its embassy and consulate in Mashhad, and the government s execution of a Shiite cleric. Riyadh and Tehran agreed in March 2021 to restore ties and reopen their embassies.
