stevens bounced from foster home to to realize the system need some serious improvement. at the age of 7, i knew something wasn t right and i vowed to, you know, to change. by 15 stevens was on his own. i ve experienced most of the statistics that surround foster care. again, i ve been lucky enough and worked hard enough and had the right relationships in place to be able to get on the other side of foster care. 20 years later, stevens is a licensed social worker and an advocate for kids in the child welfare system. he founded underdog dream which helps foster children with their mental and physical well-being. now stevens is a foster parent himself, taking in one of his nephews. now being a kinship caregiver for my nephew, i don t see a lot of changes.
