Kelly Reichardt’s “First Cow” won Best Picture, “Borat Subsequent Moviefilm” actress Maria Bakalova won for Best Supporting Actress, Delroy Lindo from “Da 5 Bloods” won for Best Actor and Chadwick Boseman posthumously won Best Supporting Actor for “Da 5 Bloods” (but not for “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom”).

Chadwick Boseman was also among the NYFCC winners announced Friday, for best supporting actor in Spike Lee s Da 5 Bloods. The late Black Panther star died of colon cancer in August at 43, and is considered an Oscar front-runner for his towering turn in Ma Rainey s Black Bottom, now streaming on Netflix.  Boseman s Da 5 Bloods co-star, Delroy Lindo, was awarded best actor for the Netflix drama, which follows a group of Vietnam War vets. Sidney Flanigan, of abortion drama Never Rarely Sometimes Always, took home best actress.  Kelly Reichardt s elegiac Western First Cow was crowned best film, while Chloé Zhao won best director for her meditative road movie Nomadland starring Frances McDormand.
