After an eight-month search to replace Chief Tim Tollison who resigned last July, Easley has hired a new police chief, Stan Whitten. Whitten has been a Greenville County Sheriff s Office deputy or master deputy since 2007 and started as Easley chief on Monday. Whitten said he was raised in Easley and it is personal for him to return to the city and serve his community. Whitten said his priority as chief will be to listen and to help establish community programs.
