Check out how many people here are lining 18th street. If youve never seen this before this is part motorcycle rally and part parade, but a pride tradition for 25 years now. In fact, all across the city pride celebrations are in full swing. This year the focus is on safety. Thousands filled into the park before the march began. Time to soak in the sunshine and the pride. At the civic center, the pride festival was on. Come on by. Get some rainbow eyebrows. Come on down and see us. Reporter the second year increased security screenings are in place at the civic center with metal detectors and bag checks. Large bags, alcohol and containers are not allowed in. Right now, the marchers are making Good Progress around the neighborhood. Authorities have taken extra precautions because of recently attacks in europe with terrorists using vehicles to drive into crowds. The San Francisco Police Department has assigned a additional officers in uniform and in plain clothes. And i can tell you that here in the in the dolores park area and also in the Castro District we have notice add whole lot more Uniformed Police officers. Unfortunately that party was cancelled a couple years ago. It is the pink party. But there are a lot of people coming here packing the sidewalk and going into clubs and businesses. Happy pride. Reporter castro and market is where the pink party is usually held but it was cancelled in 2015 because of a lack of a sponsor. This years celebrations were a bit less focused. There was a noticeable police presence. Regardless of the violence they want to make sure they know that Everybody Knows the streets can be safe.
