NOW HEAR THIS. Paul Harding, of Discover History, leads walking tours of the city explaining the importance of this year in the history of Worcester
THIS year marks the 400th anniversary of the city receiving a Charter, creating the post of Mayor, Worcester as a County in its own right and other important privileges not gifted from other Charters. In the second of a series of articles marking the year, Paul Harding, of Discover History describes events as a new Charter was requested ON February 17 1621, the bells rang out from St Andrew’s Church. This ancient church that overlooked the overcrowded and important Quayside in Worcester was ringing for an important reason.
