What for years was C&L Vacuum & Appliance is being transformed into King Zone Grocery & Grill, at 2411 N. Knoxville Ave. It’s located just south of the intersection with McClure Avenue.
In business since 1969, C&L Vacuum closed about two years ago.
According to King Zone owner Muhdi “Mike” Issa, his store is to include groceries as well as a grill for prepared, ready-to-eat foods. He also would like to be able to sell package liquor.
“The (liquor) license, if we have it, can help the business grow a little bit,” Issa said. “Our service is not just for the neighborhood. It serves the whole street.”
