Partners unite in cleanup mission

Partners unite in cleanup mission By ANELE MJEKULA A group of energetic stakeholders joined hands to launch a successful clean-up campaign in Makhanda on Friday, 23 April.  The clean-up marked the start of a strategic partnership between a number of local stakeholders who are determined to not just clean hotspot areas, but to make a long-lasting impact on the town’s appearance. Makhanda was once one of the cleanest towns in the province. This is something that the stakeholders draw huge inspiration from as they work towards their goal of ensuring that the town is once again known as one of the cleanest in the province.

Makana's Kop gets a Green facelift

A cleanup campaign is under way at Makana s Kop. Photos: Tim Bull Makana’s Kop gets a Green facelift Something special is under way on Makhanda’s iconic Makana’s Kop, thanks to cultural heritage enthusiast Sizwe Mda. Where once rubbish lay strewn across the hillside, now white-painted stones have been used to form the words, ‘Peace & Unity’ and border clusters of aloes and other indigenous plants. Mda has dubbed this the #HeritageResourcesRegeneration CleanUp Campaign. He explained that the campaign aims to clean up the heritage sites on the east side of Makhanda, with the hope of attracting tourists to those areas.
