Cheers and Jeers for March 4

Cheers to the Estevan Mercury for the great anti-bullying special in last week’s paper. You can tell the people at Estevan Diversified Services really enjoyed having their picture in the paper.    Cheers to the start of the COVID-19 vaccine delivery in the Estevan area. Residents of long-term care homes and other facilities have been waiting a long time for their doses to come.    Cheers to all of the great-looking snowmen that we saw in the Estevan area following last week’s snow dump. Too bad the snow isn’t going to stick around longer.    Cheers to all of those who were out on the weekend and found a safe ride home. There were a number of vehicles having sleepovers at local restaurants.

TeleMiracle 45 raises $5 6M for Kinsmen Foundation

SASKATOON TeleMiracle 45 kicked off Saturday night and despite a pandemic, the phones rang loud and donations poured in.  “As we speak right now the event is going very well. We’re amazed every year how much Saskatchewan gives,” said Kinsmen Kinettes Telemiracle 45 Chair Brian Angstadt. The 20-hour telethon featured Saskatchewan talent from across the province hosted by Andrea Menard, Brad Johner, and Beverley Mahood. Several people within the Saskatchewan community popped into the show including Saskatchewan Roughriders quarterback Cody Fajardo. “On behalf of Laura, myself and the Rider program we are going to donate $287.” Estevan-born Chris Henderson took the stage as well as Jess Moskaluke from Langenburg, who sang her hit Country Girls.

Kinsmen Kinette Telemiracle is this weekend

Proceeds will be directed to the meeting the medical needs of Saskatchewan people. Members of the Estevan Kinsmen and Kinette Clubs will be at Telemiracle, helping out to ensure it is a success. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, this year’s Telemiracle will have live and recorded elements. The national cast includes some well-known entertainers, including former Estevan resident Chris Henderson and Midale native Brad Johner. Performances from people across the province have been pre-recorded. Last year s Telemiracle raised more than $5.5 million.  The Mercury will have more on this story after the event, and in next week’s paper. © Copyright Estevan Mercury
