Greenock man charged with orchestrating petrol bombings from prison cell

1/1 A MURDER conspiracy accused man plotted from prison to kill a six-year-old girl and four other people in a series of petrol bombing attacks in Greenock, it s alleged. Robert Warnock directed a gang of men to target people s homes as part of a violent scheme to cause multiple deaths and destruction within the town, Crown prosecutors say. The 24-year-old appeared at Greenock Sheriff Court amid a heightened police presence charged with orchestrating attacks on properties near the town centre and in Larkfield. Warnock is said to have, from within Shotts Prison in Lanarkshire, conspired with four men and others who are meanwhile unknown to assault and murder the alleged victims.

Tele can reveal. Several homes in the town were targeted and torched in a series of incidents last year during a wave of violence which resulted in one death and serious injury. Police who launched the major Operation Tell investigation in response made four arrests following a widespread appeal for information. Now it is understood that the Crown intends to prosecute all of the accused together in one trial. It is not likely to get under way until next year. The detail emerged after one of the alleged bombers appeared at Greenock Sheriff Court on Thursday morning on an unrelated matter.

Greenock petrol bombings: New murder bid arrest

Pic by George Munro A MAN faces a murder bid charge over a fire at a block of flats in the east end of Greenock. Detectives have announced that they have arrested a 22-year-old man in connection with a fire at Kincaid Court on September 28, when a ground floor flat was allegedly torched. Residents from the block had to be evacuated during the incident. Detective Superintendent Gerry McBride said: “This is the second arrest and charge in connection with the incident at Kincaid Court in September. “Enquiries remain ongoing and I would continue to urge anyone with information to contact police.”
