Art: SNOLAB launched Drift, an art and dark matter residency in partnership with the Agnes Etherington Art Centre and the McDonald Institute. This trans-disciplinary residency explores the search for dark matter from an artistic perspective. The program began in 2019 when four artists Nadia Lichtig, Josefa Ntjam, Anne Riley and Jol Thoms visited SNOLAB’s underground facility to experience the search for dark matter and connect with the scientists and technicians who make that work possible. Drift is now open at the Agnes Etherington Art Centre and will remain there until May 31 when it will begin a tour that takes it to other gall

Fundraiser: The Sudbury Women’s Centre is inviting the community to participate in a campaign to donate $10 to be entered to win a floral arrangement in time for Mother’s Day. Funds will continue to support the SWC as it provides services amid increased demand during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Services include support and referrals, as well as basic needs items, diapers, food and clothing for women in crisis. The last day to contribute and be entered to win is May 7. For $28, send a virtual singing telegram of I Just Called to Say I Love You sung by Sudbury’s award-winning women’s barbershop chorus Nickel City Sound. To see a sample video and to place an order, go to its website at www.nickelcitysound.ca, fill in the order form along with a personalized message. Your singing telegram will be sent by email with love on the morning of Mother’s Day on May 9. Payments can be made with PayPal, Credit Card or by e-transfer. 50/50 draw: HSN 50/50 Cash Lottery for the North, with more ways to win this month. The Win More Wednesdays event continues with all cash prizes. Every Wednesday through May, early ticket purchasers are entered to win an early bird prize in addition to the grand prize jackpot. Any tickets purchased before 8 a.m. the day of the early bird draws will be included in that day’s draw; for example, to be included in the May 12 draw, you must have purchased your ticket before May 12 at 8 a.m. Each month, half of the total ticket sales support patient care at HSN and the other half to one winner. Residents across Ontario older than 18 can purchase tickets. Ticket sales end at 11:59 p.m. on Monday, May 31. The jackpot-winning ticket will be drawn on Tuesday, June 1, at 10 a.m. and posted online at www.hsn5050.ca.
