Times Names floated as successors to Norman Pearlstine include talent from ESPN, The New York Times, and The Hollywood Reporter The  Los Angeles Times is searching for a new executive editor in the wake of Norman Pearlstine’s departure and names that may be under consideration are bubbling up in media circles. In addition to editors already at the Times looking for a promotion, the rumor mill has pointed so far to three outside candidates: Kevin Merida, Dean Baquet, and Janice Min.

Norman Pearlstine Has Left the Los Angeles Times

Los Angeles Times, the paper reports, after two and a half years in the role. Pearlstine had announced his intention to leave the role in October, but no specific departure day was announced. Staff were informed that Pearlstine was no longer helming news operations in a memo sent on Monday by the paper’s owner and executive chairman, Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong. No successor has been selected for the high-profile job, which oversees the paper’s more than 500 journalists and the content they produce. The  Times reports that an executive search firm was recently brought on to manage the process of filling the role.
