Austin-area florists are looking ahead to a busy Valentine s Day on Sunday, as couples search for more creative and pandemic-friendly ways to celebrate.
“It’ll be a year like no other,” Mercedes Anderson, owner of Mercedes Flowers in South Austin, said of the holiday.
As lovebirds consider staying home for Valentine s Day rather than going out to movie theaters or restaurants, florists are predicting they will turn to flowers. This, despite Valentine’s Day falling on a Sunday, which is normally a slow delivery day for the industry, even on holidays. Flowers are the hug, the love, the laugher we so desperately miss. Flowers represent all those feelings of everything that’s been gone for almost a year,” Anderson said.
