Who doesn t love a haunted house? Well, not the good folk of the fictional Bartleby, Vermont, or Maggie Holt, the daughter of the author who wrote a notorious book on the subject!
Eddie Mason thought she was a figment of his imagination, or maybe a ghost, something only he could hear late at night. There were the footsteps in the attic. The creak of a door opening somewhere in the house when everyone else was asleep. An audible sigh in the walls. Sometimes, he thought he could just catch a glimpse of her out of the corner of his eye. Eddie did not mention these experiences to his parents or his older brother, Marshall. Everyone already thought of him as the "oddball," the "weird kid" and he disliked drawing attention to himself. Neither did the girl in the walls.
