Suspected Long Island serial killer Rex Heuermann is being investigated over a series of "similar" unsolved murders of sex workers around Atlantic City, the top cop in his case has confirmed.

Rex Heuermann, the man charged in the Gilgo Beach killings in Long Island, is now being investigated for possible ties to the unsolved 'Eastbound Strangler' case outside Atlantic City, New Jersey from 2006. Four women, all sex workers, were found dead behind a motel in Egg Harbor Township. Heuermann, a 59-year-old architect, also will be investigated for links to similar killings in Las Vegas and South Carolina, authorities said.
