Wolf Den starts transition, names new CEO
Barry Landew and Kevin Robbins had a relatively straightforward vision when they founded Wolf Den Associates in 2009 help companies grow and solve tough problems.
In the beginning, that meant mostly focusing on capture and proposal support. Over the years, they’ve added strategy and management consulting and transaction advisory services. A few years ago, they spun out the technical solutions business Dark Wolf.
The two former SRA International executives also wanted to build something that would last. Now at 440 customers and 2,000 engagements, they’ve taken that first crucial step in making sure that Wolf Den outlasts the two of them.
Wrapping up the Kauffman killing
Reporter Annie McCormick dishes on her book about the SJ homicide
In my column last week, I interviewed Action News reporter Annie McCormick about how she chased the story of a murder-for-hire in South Jersey.
Her book, “The Doctor, the Hitman, and the Motorcycle Gang: The True Story of One of New Jersey’s Most Notorious Murder for Hire Plots,” is about the 2012 murder of April Kauffman, a popular radio personality and veterans advocate.
McCormick is an award-winning reporter who has covered crime in the Philadelphia area extensively for 6abc since 2012. Her book covers the sensational case of a wife who was murdered, and her husband, Dr. Jim Kauffman, who was later charged with hiring someone to kill her. Kauffman, a noted endocrinologist, was also suspected of Medicare fraud and of operating a “pill mill” with outlaw bikers.
Shockingly, an investigation into her murder unveiled a criminal enterprise and a duplicitous loved one.
April Kauffman worked as a host for an Atlantic City radio station. She was very active with voluntering with veteran s efforts, so it was no surprise she fell for Jim Kauffman, a doctor who regaled her with tales of being a Green Beret during the Vietnam War. In 2000, Jim became her third husband. The two were something of a power couple in their Linwood, New Jersey community.
However, on May 10, 2012, it all came crashing down.
“My boss is lying on the floor of her bedroom and she s not answering me,” the Kauffmans handyman told 911 in audio obtained by Killer Motive.
