Pott. County jury convicts Shawnee man of murder, permitting child abuse

A Pottawatomie County jury on Friday convicted a Shawnee man of murder in the first-degree, permitting child abuse, in the 2017 death of 2-year-old Jamie Murdock.
The trial for Cashe K. Graham, 26, began Monday in Pottawatomie County District Court and concluded Friday. The jury returned the guilty verdict and recommended he should serve a life sentence without parole. Formal sentencing has been set for April 28.
Graham and the toddler s mother were both charged in 2017 with first-degree murder, child abuse, or in the alternative, first-degree murder, permitting child abuse. The jury found Graham guilty of the alternative count of permitting abuse.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports a McLoud man died Monday evening when his vehicle collided head-on with an SUV on SH 102 in Lincoln County. Freezing rain was reported at the time of the crash and the trooper noted the road also was ice-covered.
That fatality collision occurred about 6:17 p.m. on SH 102, just north of County Road 1070, which is about two miles north of McLoud.
The patrol reports Lary England, 72, McLoud, died at the scene of that crash from a head injury.
Trooper Eric Smith s report shows England was driving a 2017 Nissan Versa northbound on SH 102 when his vehicle crossed the center line.

A Shawnee man who allegedly led Shawnee police on a high-speed chase through the city on Jan. 15 now faces 11 charges, with nine of them listed as felony counts.
Michael Daryl Greenwood, 26, is formally charged in Pottawatomie County District Court, with charges alleging the chase reached speeds of 80 miles per hour as the suspect drove through private yards and ran other vehicles off the road.
Greenwood is charged with three felony counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, endangering others while eluding or attempting to elude police, along with three felony counts of running a road block and possession of a stolen vehicle. The last felony charge is malicious injury to property over $1,000 while the the final two counts in this case are misdemeanors of leaving the scene of an accident involving damage and failure to stop/yield.
OHP reports injuries in two Pott. County accidents

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is reporting several injuries from two separate accidents that occurred in Pottawatomie County on Monday.
One of those occurred at 7:46 p.m. Monday evening at SH 9 and SH 102, about 1.5 miles south and one mile east of Pink.
The OHP reports a 2010 GMC Yukon being driven by Charity Mae Spearman-Kight, 45, Tecumseh, made a left-hand turn northbound onto SH 102.
At the same time, a 2009 Chevrolet HHR driven by Richard L. Hussfeldt, 70, Blanchard, was westbound on SH 9 and struck the turning vehicle, the patrol said.
Troopers noted Spearman-Kight was pinned about 20 minutes before being extricated by Pink firefighters using the Hurst tool.
