Scituate couple saves the day with Santa’s mailbox

SCITUATE – After Recreation Director David Pannone’s online purchase of a mailbox to collect children’s letters to Santa Claus turned out to be a scam, he said a pair of Santa’s helpers custom-built a mailbox in the nick of time to save Christmas.
Pannone purchased a bright red mailbox online three weeks ago, and waited for its delivery. He said he was in the Recreation Department office when he received notification that the package was delivered.
