Limerick s Elaine crosses the Macra winning post in first place Reporter: );   ); ELAINE Houlihan, of Kilmallock Macra, has become the first female Munster vice president in 20 years. She beat off stiff competition from Aine McCarthy of Killeagh Macra, Co Cork. Elaine, aged 25, is currently chairperson of Limerick Macra, alongside being PRO and very proud member of her home club of Kilmallock Macra. Elaine joined Macra in 2016 after some encouragement from her parents Eamonn and Ann, both former members of the organisation. Since joining she has been active at club, county and national level. I am delighted to be elected Munster vice president and I would like to thank my family, friends and amazing campaign team for all the support over the past few weeks.

Houlihan elected Macra Munster vice-president

April 7, 2021 3:53 pm Elaine Houlihan has been elected the next Macra na Feirme Munster vice-president, beating stiff competition from Áine McCarthy. The total poll cast for Munster vice-president was 62, of which Houlihan secured a majority, with 42 votes cast in her name. She is currently the chairperson of Limerick Macra and her home club is Kilmallock Macra. Although she is a qualified physiotherapist, Houlihan currently works for a local TD in Co. Limerick. She is a former chairperson of her club, Kilmallock Macra, and also sits on the Macra na Feirme National Competitions Committee. Announcing her candidacy in February, Houlihan said that her main aim is to reboot clubs with a major focus on their members, noting: “Macra clubs across the county are member-led and member-run and [a] one-fix all solution doesn’t work for all clubs.”
