READER S LETTER: Researching air crashes in the region

Menu   READER S LETTER: Researching air crashes in the region — especially RAF Hawker Hurricane, Monsun light aircraf and a Gazelle helicopter INFORMATION: A Hawker Hurricane. Picture: Pixaby My interest is researching both military and civil aircraft crashes including gliders in County Durham and bordering into Cumbria around Cross Fell, and I am in the process of writing a book. I am also researching the area along the A66 from Teesdale into Cumbria, where there have been a few aircraft crashes. I am asking the readers who live in and around Nenthead if they remember a wartime RAF Hawker Hurricane fighter which crashed in 1941 mid-way on the Allenheads to Nenthead road, sadly killing the pilot?
