A Bell County grand jury this indicted a Killeen man on two felony charges after police said he shot a man through the heart on New Yearâs Eve. The man who was shot did survive.
Steven Lavone Edwards, 43, was indicted on one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon causing serious bodily injury, a first-degree felony.
He also was indicted on a third-degree felony charge of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.
At just after 11:30 p.m. on Dec. 31, 2020, Killeen police responded to the 1800 block of Galaxy Drive in reference to a shooting victim. Officers arrived on scene to find the victim already had been transported to the hospital.

Syrknoreon Dewuntrel Pilgram, 30, was being held in the Bell County Jail on Wednesday in lieu of bonds totaling $1.2 million. On Wednesday, he was indicted on one charge of murder, a first-degree felony, and two charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony.
Killeen police on Jan. 30 responded to a shooting in the 600 block of Murphy Street in which three men were shot.
Asher Levi Kitchens, 34, was found dead at the scene.

A criminal warrant arrest for another agency was made at 10:37 a.m. on Tuesday at the 300 block of Priest Drive.
Public intoxication was reported at 3:33 p.m. on Tuesday at the 900 block of West Veterans Memorial Boulevard.
Criminal mischief was reported at 8:20 p.m. on Tuesday at the 1300 block of West Jasper Drive.
A boil-water notice has been issued effective at 8 a.m. Monday for properties located at 1401 to 1405, 1501, 1701 and 1801 N. College Street and 207 W. Anderson Avenue.
Contractors will be installing a new water line and must interrupt water service to complete the work. Once service is restored, all water must be boiled prior to consumption, according to a news release from the city of Killeen.
