On March 23, the council passed a $4.2 million budget amendment to address emergency street repairs from Februaryâs snow and ice storm and lapsed street repairs. The funds are to be used for overlay, milling and striping work on a number well traveled city streets.
This project will not focus on spot repairs, but work on larger, high-traffic areas of city roadways. The project will focus on 12 main thoroughfares including: W.S. Young Drive, Trimmier Road, Stagecoach Road, Elms Road, Florence Road and 38th Street.
The Killeen City Council this week will vote to either approve or deny an ordinance banning the Killeen Police Department from using or participating in no-knock warrants.
After the previous Tuesday meeting where the council talked about this item, Killeen resident Leo Gukeisen reached out to the Herald via email showing his support for no-knock warrants.
âI have spoken with numerous residents who are in favor of no-knock warrants but have said because of the current environment in the U.S. today they are afraid to speak up. Honestly I donât blame them one bit and respect them for their decisions. I myself am not one of them because I will address the City Council as a resident next Tuesday,â Gukeisen said.
