The management of Kwara State University has reacted to the raids of some private hostels housing their students in Malete town, saying it will not condone the manhandling of the school’s bonafide students. The raids were carried out in the Moro Local Government Area of Kwara State by operatives of both the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency over the last few days. Motorists, students and other users of a bridge linking Shao and Kwara State University (KWASU) Malete Road in Moro Local Government of Kwara State as the bridge collapsed after a heavy rainfall. From videos and photographs from the incident showed that the bridge cut into two, leaving no access for users. The Registrar of the Kwara State University, Dr. Kikelomo W. Sallee, also confirmed the incident in a terse statement on the university’s Twitter account on Wednesday saying that the collapse was caused by the heavy rainfall.
