Today Kiingi Tuheitia Pootatau Te Wherowhero VII was welcomed at Omahu Marae by a mass representation of various hapuu of Ngaati Kahungunu. The Kiingitanga movement has been hosted several times at Omahu, including a visit by Kiingi Taawhiao in 1883 .
