Carn studies carbon dioxide and sulfur dioxide emissions from volcanoes using remote sensing via satellite. This volcanic emissions information pulls together opportunities to improve monitoring of natural hazards, human health risks and climate processes one volcanic breath at a time.
Aside from the amount of sediment that will be washed downriver once the dams are removed, one of the main arguments against removing the dams is plummeting property values for those who live on the shores of Iron Gate, Copco and JC Boyle reservoirs, both in Oregon and Siskiyou County.
Supporters of dam removal say that although they’ll no longer have lakeside property, property owners will instead be living along a healthy river with many recreational opportunities.
