Federal Court Justice Mordecai Bromberg did not grant the students’ proposed injunction on a NSW coal mine expansion, but acknowledged Environment Minister Sussan Ley owes future generations a duty of care.
The ruling is a “giant leap forward in climate litigation in Australia,” said lawyer David Barnden, who represented the children.
