Out to a 4-0 start, the Knoxville Boys Basketball Squad has done it with experience and each player knowing where their teammate will be on each play. Two seniors on the Panthers squad this season, Mike Hudson and Kieren Nichols, have been playing together since elementary school both tell KRLS Sports they have got to the point where many times they just give each other a look and know what to do.
Much of the early season success for the Panthers is shooting. Knoxville is hitting 50% from the field with Hudson as one of the top shooters on the team at 61% with Jaxon Zuck drilling 71% of his shots. Knoxville will take on Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont Friday night. You can hear the game Friday on kniakrls.com KRLS3 beginning with the pregame at 6:15.
The Knoxville Basketball escaped Davis County on Tuesday with victories as the girls won 64-52 and the boys survived a last second three to win 61-58 as heard on 95.3 KNIA. The girls, after a slow start in the first couple of minutes, took a tie game at eight and went on a 17-0 run to take control in the second quarter. The Mustangs would come back to get as close as nine points, but the Panthers were able to salt the game away at the free throw line. Coach Jim Uitermarkt told KRLS Sports with three girls in double figures, that takes the weight off of Maggie Wilkins.
