Knowing that he would have to cut off his hair upon entering the Air Force Academy, rather than cut and throw away 19 inches of his hair, an Alabama teen decided to donate it to children who lost theirs due to cancer.  KSNB4 News reported that Kieran Moïse of Huntsville wanted to help children with cancer after losing a friend to the disease in the eighth grade. The 17-year-old grew out his hair for six years, hoping it would be used to make wigs. His mother, Kelly, knew that it was time to make the donation after Kieran got his acceptance call from the U.S. Air Force Academy.

This is an example of an incredible teenager! As reported on news sources, a 19-year-old Alabama teenager, Kieran Moïse, raised over $39,000 for cancer after cutting his 19 inch Afro. He’d been growing his hair since the eighth grade after losing a friend to cancer. Kelly Moïse, 49, told CNN,  “Kieran has always been known for his hair. It was a big part of his personality and who he was. But he has always been the most compassionate and caring person. Since he was six years old, he somehow had the mindset of raising money and giving it to people who need it, and that never changed.”
