In Memoriam: Remembering The Animation Industry Figures Who Died In 2020
The past 12 months, in which the spectre of disease and death loomed over everything, saw Cartoon Brew chalk up a sad record: we have never published so many obituaries in one year.
None of these deaths were attributed to Covid-19. Yet during a period when light relief was needed more than ever, we instead found ourselves mourning a stream of departed talents who left their mark on our industry animators and cartoonists, directors and producers, voice artists, dancers, and basketball players; famous and under-appreciated; old and young.
Here are the deaths we documented in 2020:

Some years give you nothing, fly by maybe a little too smoothly. In a century’s time who will remember 2019? Absolutely no one. 2020, however, will live in infamy. The story of the year was coronavirus. White knuckling through the quar we rediscovered social media as a connector, not a promoter. YouTube, Instagram, and Twitter boomed. We tried out some new things with Zoom, with Houseparty, with Clubhouse. People declared Instagram dead after Zuckerberg replaced the notifications button with a shopping bag. People declared Twitter dead when they rolled out…fleets? And everyone rushed to try TikTok when Donald Trump woke up sweaty and cranky one night and tweeted out that he was going to ban it. Of all the apps TikTok was the clear winner.
multitaskers did worse on the quiz, and a second experiment found those laptops may me may a serious distraction to students with only pencil and paper. those scored lower when a laptop was nearby. the study appears in computer in education. i m not surprised by this except for the part the pen and paper kid over here is distracted by this. that s the part that is alarming. even the kids next door, looking over, something is happening on facebook, what is it? and they re not paying attention to the class. kind of eye-opening. shepard: when they first started this i was like, they always said the worst thing you can ever have when studying or consuming information is distractions and that piece of junk is a distraction. and it s interesting, really interesting commentary. there was a period of time when everyone was soup excited about laptops moving into the classroom and now they re
