NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - In the middle of the day, a shooting unfolds on General Meyer in Algiers. Itâs the latest in a series of shootings and homicides that unfolded in a 24-hour span.
âWhen we came down, everybody was just running around. People were getting into their cars and getting out of the area,â says John Bryant.
At 2:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 6, neighbors tell FOX 8 a crowd of people was gathered at a short-term rental on Carondelet Street, a block off St. Charles Avenue when out of nowhere someone started shooting.

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - One man is dead and another is behind bars after police say an altercation lead to a shooting on Canal Street on Wednesday, May 5.
Khutbi Abdelkader, 24, was arrested and booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center for one count of second-degree murder.
New Orleans Police responded to a call of a shooting in the 900 block of Canal Street for a shooting just before 5 p.m. When they arrived at the scene, they found a man with a gunshot wound to his body. The victim, identified as Anthony Francois, 30, was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

NEW ORLEANS The NOPD says it has arrested a 24-year-old man in the shooting death of another man on Canal Street Wednesday following an altercation in front of a store.
Khutbi Abdelkader was arrested and booked for second-degree murder in the Wednesday killing of Anthony Francois.
Bond was set for $350,000, records show.
According to police, shortly before 5 p.m., Eighth District officers responded to a call of a shooting in the 900 block of Canal Street and found a man with a gunshot wound.
