ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Television (PTV) Managing Director Aamer Manzoor had opposed sacking of seven professionals before being suspended by PTV Chairman Naeem Bokhari.
On Jan 1, the PTV board charge-sheeted and suspended Mr Manzoor for “exercising powers beyond prescribed limits.”
According to media reports, PTV’s board of directors took the decision to suspend Mr Manzoor at a meeting presided over by Mr Bokhari.
The PTV board in its meeting had terminated the services of seven professionals inducted during the tenure of Mr Bokhari’s predecessor.
PTV MD Reportedly Terminated After Controversial Decisions
Managing Director Pakistan Television (PTV), Aamer Manzoor, had challenged the sacking of several PTV officials which reportedly led to his termination from the state television.
On 1 January, the Board of Directors (BOD) of the state broadcaster, during a meeting presided over by Chairman PTV Naeem Bukhari, had formally suspended Aamer Manzoor on the pretext of “exercising powers beyond prescribed limits.”

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday dismissed a petition of seven top officials of the Pakistan Television (PTV) who were sacked by newly-appointed PTV chairman Naeem Bokhari.
Petitioners Khawar Azhar, Qatrina Hosain, Asim Baig, Nasir Abbas, Nasir Abbas Naqvi, retired Col Nadeem Niazi, Mohammad Tahir Mushtaq and Khurram Anwar had challenged the termination of their employment contracts.
IHC’s Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb observed that since the Supreme Court had already held that the Employees Service Rules were “non statutory”, therefore he “cannot take a view different from the one taken by the Honorable Supreme Court regarding the maintainability of a writ petition filed by an employee of the Pakistan Television Corporation with respect to a matter regarding his/her service”.
