Nearly $100M logged in Jan-Apr rubber exports

Cambodia generated $99.87 million from natural rubber exports in the first four months of 2021, up by 2.5 per cent from $97.43 million in the same period last year, according to data from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.
By weight, however, exports dropped by 15 per cent to 61,056 tonnes in January-April from 71,749 in the corresponding period last year.
Men Sopheak, owner of Sopheak Nika Investment Agro-Industrial Plants Co Ltd, a rubber grower and exporter, told The Post on May 2 that growing demand in China, the world s largest market, has pushed up rubber prices in Cambodia since the beginning of this year.

Tobacco exports trail off in 2020

Cambodia exported more than 5.8 thousand tonnes of dried tobacco leaves worth more than $17 million to nine countries last year, marking a 14 per cent and 28 per cent decline in volume and value, respectively, over 2019.
The Kingdom shipped out a total of 5,820.82 tonnes of leaves in 2020, down by 14.02 per cent from 6,769.97 tonnes in 2019, according to figures provided by Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Veng Sakhon.
Last year’s exports were valued at $17,462,460 million, falling 28.34 per cent from the $24,371,874.72 million clocked in 2019.
