NEW DELHI: Reacting to TMC chief and West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee’s announcement on Wednesday that August 16 will be celebrated as “Khela Diwas”, BJP questioned the selection of the day, equating it with the Muslim League’s Direct Action Day, which began on that day in 1946, and the ‘Great Calcutta Killings’.
“Interesting Mamata Banerjee has declared August 16 as ‘Khela Hobe Diwas’. It is the day the Muslim League launched its Direct Action Day and began the Great Calcutta Killings in 1946.
