The gloves are off in the political battle of wits between President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto, who yesterday scoffed at his boss’s claim that he was in a hurry to clinch power.
The DP also dismissed claims made by President Kenyatta and his allies that he was disloyal, radicalising leaders and youth in the country to revolt against the government and the so-called dynasties.
In his second day tour of Coast, the DP cut an image of a person betrayed by Uhuru, who he said he fought for twice to win power. He declared he will not stop his march to State House.

Deputy President William Ruto has accused President Uhuru Kenyatta of abandoning Jubilee’s Big Four agenda to push for the referendum.
Speaking yesterday in Lunga Lunga Constituency, Kwale, Dr Ruto blamed ODM leader Raila Odinga for Jubilee Party woes, saying cracks started emerging soon after he struck a working relationship with Uhuru, and his allies took over leadership of some parliamentary committees.
“Raila should not lie to Kenyans that he is a Jubilee outsider. He has derailed the Big Four agenda and shifted government’s focus to the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) so as to share out positions,” he said.

Factions allied to Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho and Kilifi s Amason Kingi have failed to agree on whether they should form a Coast political party, remain in ODM or seek new alliances ahead of 2022 polls.
In a closed-door meeting held in Nyali on Monday, the two leaders, however, agreed on the need to ring-fence the political turf and end hostility between different factions in the region.
To that end, the second meeting of all the six governors in the Coast has been scheduled for February 9 in Voi, followed by another of all elected leaders on February 20.

Mombasa Governor Hassan Jdismissed calls by Coast leaders allied to Deputy President William Ruto to form a new political party in the region, saying it will flop.
In a statement sent to media houses on Sunday, ODM Deputy Party leader described those behind the move as political rejects and fraudulent leaders being used by Ruto to divide the region for his political gains.
“The people behind this push are selfish leaders and those rejected in the previous elections who have essentially sold their souls to Ruto and joined his campaign of fraud and lies that all sensible Kenyans know is doomed to fail,” read the statement.
