All eligible residents of Kharela village in Jhansi district of Uttar Pradesh have been vaccinated with at least one dose against Covid-19. Before Kharela, Nota village of the district had attained the 100 per cent vaccination status. The two villages now serve as models for the rest of the state,

JHANSI: Two villages here have witnessed considerable progress in the fight against Covid with all the residents above the age of 18 having received the first jab of the vaccine against the virus, authorities said on Tuesday.
At the villages, Kharela and Nota in Jhansi, all residents, who are eligible for the vaccine, have been administered the first dose, they said.

MAHOBA: An 80-year-old woman was allegedly raped in a village in Kharela area here, police said on Friday.
The incident took place on February 2 when the woman was alone in the house as her family members were out attending a religious function, SHO, Kharela, Anil Kumar said.
A complaint was lodged by the victim s grandson who alleged that two people entered the house from the terrace and one of them identified as Phoolchandra alias Phullu raped the woman, Kumar said.
An FIR was registered against Phoolchandra, a resident of Jalalpur area in Hamirpur and an unidentified person on Thursday, the SHO said.

The woman died on the spot, the SHO said, adding the deceased s brother lodged a case against Balram who has been arrested.

MAHOBA: A 32-year-old woman was axed to death by her husband in Kharela town of Mahoba district on suspicion that she was having an illicit relation with her neighbour, police said on Thursday.
Balram, who suspected his wife Sunita of having the illicit relation, had an argument with her on Wednesday night during which he attacked her with an axe, Kharela SHO Anil Kumar said.
