Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) is planning to introduce business continuity plan (BCP) in economic zones to protect investment from disaster related loses and develop institutional mechanism for promoting resilience in business.
Khatunganj lost over Tk 514cr to waterlogging in 2020: study
Traders in Chattogram s Khatunganj incurred direct financial losses of around Tk 514.38 crore last year solely for waterlogging, estimated a study made public yesterday.
The damage occurred not only to stocks of the country s once top commodity trading centre and commercial hub but also through reduction in sales.
There was also damages to infrastructure and properties, loss of capital assets, cost of repairment and renovation and relocation of business cost.
Some of the non-financial impacts include mental trauma, anxiety or psychological pressure, demotivation of doing business and reputational damage, the study found.
Mannan for timely completion of development work

DHAKA, Feb 11, 2021 (BSS) – Planning Minister MA Mannan today urged all concerned, including the officials related to development operations of various ministries, to accomplish their tasks in due time with sincerity to yield maximum benefits for the country’s people.
“You’ll (concerned officials) have to accomplish your tasks speedily in due time, you can’t leave your works for tomorrow if those could be done today…..since you’re receiving salaries and allowances (from the taxpayers’ money), you will have to discharge your duties properly,” he said.
The planning minister said this while addressing a consultation workshop for ADP sector-reclassification, held at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) in the city.
