ration, policing, sentencing. there s much more segregation of black and latino students and much more racial igslation sola white students than we have seen in decades. khalil, here s my one question. on one hand jeff is pointing to the transactional problem. but on the other hand, one of the thing es we talk about is to assign african-american texts on syllabi to engage with the art and cultural world of people of color and of people around the world. talk to me about the difference between our concern about the transactional versus the engagement with culture. it s a great point. culture is the most fluid of ways of communicating with each other. it s the foundation for a universal language. and it s why the cultural turn has been so incredibly rich and has attracted so many brilliant people to academia and the
