KUWAIT CITY, Dec 14, (KUNA): His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah on Monday took the oath in front of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah as the head of the new cabinet. His Highness the Amir, addressed the assigned prime minister during the ceremonial audience, wishing him heavenly support and guidance for performing the great task, noting that the people of Kuwait “have great ambitions for fulfilling the aspired objectives” by the new government. Thanking members of the former government who had worked amid very complex circumstances, His Highness the Amir noted that the new government would deal with a new phase marked with challenges and tasks of equal weight that warrant extraordinary efforts, diligent and faithful work in coordination with the parliament.

He holds a BA in Political Science from Kuwait University in 1977. He joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1978 with the rank of a diplomatic attaché and worked in the Political Department, the Arab Affairs Department from 1978 to 1983, then joined the permanent Kuwaiti delegation to the United Nations in New York between 1983 and 1989 and was appointed as Deputy Director of the Arab World Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1989 and took over the Department of the Undersecretary’s Office Foreign 1992.
He served as Kuwait’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia and the country’s delegate to the Organization of the Islamic Conference from 1995 to 1998, during which he participated in the ministerial council meetings of GCC foreign ministers.
