UNSMIL yesterday welcomed the convening of a formal House of Representatives (HoR) session yesterday in Sirte to deliberate on the vote of confidence on the cabinet list proposed by Prime Minister-designate Abd Alhamid Aldabaiba. It said it is pleased with the significant number of HoR members participating in the session.
UNSMIL also commended HoR Speaker Ageela Saleh and HoR members for convening a reunified session after many years of divisions and paralysis.
It said this session is an important step towards meeting the long-standing aspiration of the Libyan people to reunify the country and all state institutions.

Ahmed Mesmari, the official spokesperson for the Khalifa Hafter-led Libyan National Army, (LNA) refuted on Saturday the presence of any Wagner forces ‘‘in or outside Sirte’’.
His statement came in response to reports of the discovery of “leaflets in both Arabic and Russian languages in Sirte, containing threats against a group of Wagner mercenaries”.
Mesmari described the alleged findings of these leaflets and on the crimes allegedly committed in Sirte as ‘‘delusional’’, stressing that this is an open provocation and a new lie.
He confirmed that the situation in Sirte is completely stable, and that the security services are in complete control of the situation.

Tripoli, Dec 29 : Libyan Foreign Minister Mohamed Al-Taher Siala and his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shoukry discussed mutual cooperation during a phone call.
On Monday, Siala and Shoukry discussed the Libyan issue and support for stability , Xinhua news agency quoted the Libyan Foreign Ministry s spokesman Mohamed Gablawi as saying in a statement.
Shoukry stressed the continuation of cooperation between the two sides, adding that a visit by an Egyptian delegation to Libya is a serious step in this direction, the statement added.
