RAK to invest $136m in sustainable tourism projects RAS AL KHAIMAH, 3 hours, 17 minutes ago Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA) has announced over 20 sustainable tourism development initiatives across the emirate, marking an investment of AED500 million ($136 million) in partnership with RAK Hospitality Holding and RAK Chamber of Commerce and Industry.   Announced at the Arabian Travel Market 2021, the region’s leading travel and tourism event held from May 16 – 19 in person at Dubai World Trade Centre, the projects centre on the emirate’s new destination strategy that focuses on nature, leisure, adventure, accessibility and authenticity. Appealing to those seeking safe and expansive experiences in the new normal of travel, all projects are purpose built with sustainability standards and processes.

VIDEO: Emirati wingsuiter Khalifa Al Ghafri jumps from Jais Mountain in death-defying stunt 18 Dec 2020 Gulf Today, Staff Reporter Emirati adventurer Khalifa Salem Al-Ghafri, 33, nicknamed the “Batman of the Emirates” succeeded in jumping from the highest mountain peak in the country, Jebel Jais at Ras Al-Khaimah once again from 1,650 metres above sea level on Friday.   The wingsuit maestro landed about 20 kilometres north of the city of  Ras Al Khaimah. Al-Ghafri, who is from Ras Al Khaimah, has previously jumped from mountains in five other countries, in France, Switzerland, Norway, Italy, and Turkey, and now added the mountainous heights of the UAE to his list of accomplishments.
