The U.N. Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) has welcomed the joint declaration announced in Cairo today by Speaker of Libya's House of Representatives, Aguila Saleh, and chairman of the High Council of State, Khaled Al-Mishri, which they agreed on drawing a “clear and specified” roadmap later in order to hold the long-awaited elections.
Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh, announced on Monday that his government of intends to hold the Libyan parliamentary and presidential elections this year.
Speaker of Libya's House of Representatives, Aguila Saleh, and chairman of High Council of State, Khaled Al-Mishri, have reached an agreement to resume talks in Cairo in the next few days to agree on a constitutional basis necessary for the holding of presidential and parliamentary elections, according to a report by Egyptian newspaper Youm 7.
Head of the Tripoli-based High Council of State (HCS), Khaled al-Mishri, said the Council has come a long way with the Parliament regarding the preparation of the constitutional rule.
