“At first I thought it was a scam,” laughs The Mantu chef Hamid Noori. “Even when they flew me to New York and the car pulled up, I wasn’t sure if it was real.”
Within the first few months of opening his modern Afghan cuisine restaurant in 2019, Noori was asked to be a guest chef on the Food Network’s cooking competition, “Beat Bobby Flay.”
The premise of the show is simple: Two talented chefs compete against each other using a secret ingredient – in Noori’s case, snow peas – and the winner of the first round takes on the celebrity chef and cookbook author, Mr. Bobby Flay.

RICHMOND, Va. A Henrico woman crowned as the winner of Food Network s Spring Baking Championship supported those struggling with COVID-19 in India by holding a bake sale Sunday.
Keya Wingfield, who owns Keya and Co., currently lives in Richmond but was born and raised in India where the coronavirus has hit people especially hard, especially in recent weeks. There are people losing lives every single day, Wingfield said. People are gasping for air to breathe. There is no oxygen left anywhere, there are no hospital beds left anywhere.

RICHMOND, Va. One Henrico woman is celebrating after winning a Food Network baking title.
Keya Wingfield is the baker behind Richmond s Keya and Co. The bakery offers a range of treats to meet any appetite and prides itself on being the first to introduce cake pops to Richmond 11 years ago.
The self-taught baker from Bombay, India was introduced to the opportunity of a lifetime when she got a phone call from Hollywood last summer. She had been invited to compete against 10 other established bakers on the Food Network s Spring Baking Championship.
