Construction and building engineering specialists responded to the latest Budget with disappointment around a lack of clarity on future funding for low carbon heat and homes.
However, commitments in the Budget to establish a National Infrastructure Bank, as well as the continuation of the pandemic furlough scheme and an expansion of incentives to encourage apprenticeships have been viewed as welcome initiatives for the HVAC sector.
Chancellor Rishi Sunak’s 2021 Budget, which was intended to protect jobs and the economy from the ongoing impacts of the pandemic, was notable for making no mention of the recently launched Green Homes Grant or what might succeed it from 2022 in order to incentivise lower carbon heat.
