Front line of the fire. Good evening im julie haener. And im frank somerville. By the time our helicopter headed home this evening the amount of smoke had diminished quite a bit and containment has reached 20 but the damage is done. The rocky fire has been burning for six days and scorched 67,000 acres. So far two dozen homes have been destroyed. We get the latest from noelle walker. Reporter it is like a different day out here on the rocky fire than what i experienced yesterday. We drove around much of the perimeter except for the far northern section. The newest section of this fire. It looks so much different. Such a more calm atmosphere than the hustle and bustle of the fire. Earlier we made it to rocky road, thats the road that gave the fire its name to find out what is left. Reporter tonight we got our first look down rocky creek road where the rocky fire got its start and many homes met its end. Totally gone. Like a big hole in the end. I call it teeny tiny toilet town.
